MUSISS (Masjid Us-Sunnah Islamic Sunday School)
Children are our most important asset. Future of Islam in this country tomorrow is directly dependent on how much effort we expend today on their Islamic and intellectual growth. The Madison Muslims Community is dedicated to the development of our next generation, they are our future, and will fill the masjid when we are gone.
Madison Muslims Community recognizes the importance of this project, and has three phases of education available to them.
Firstly, there is the Islamic Sunday School (Masjid Us-Sunnah Islamic Sunday School/MUSISS). The goal of the Sunday school is simply to help them love, respect, and appreciate their Muslim identity, and to reinforce the understanding of their duties and responsibilities to Allah (SWT).
The Islamic School of Madison (Madinah Academy of Madison/MAM) is the next level of education. Madinah Academy of Madison is dedicated in providing strong and challenging academic programs within an Islamic atmosphere, guided by the teachings of Islam and under the guidance of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This goal can be achieved by adopting Islamic Curriculum from various reputable Islamic Curriculums suppliers in addition to the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) curriculum.
Finally Madison Muslims Community offers the Islamic Summer School (ISS) program each year for our children. The goal of Islamic Summer School to develop Islamic intellectuality and morality through summer school project that centered on local Islamic community. The Islamic Summer School has evolved into a permanent project aims at making a far better use of six weeks of the summer vacation. This will be achieved through promoting a strong sense of identity, teaching proper behavior, enrichment of religious knowledge, exposure to Islamic heritage, and development of interpersonal communication among Muslim children.
The goal as the Madison Muslim Community is to reach each Muslim child through one of these channels. The Sunday school currently reaches about 40 children each week. Along with the Islamic School (Madinah Academy of Madison), which enrolls about 50 children, we are currently reaching about 90 children in the community. This leaves hundreds of our children going to public schools, and getting minimal exposure to Islamic education.
The Islamic Sunday School is focused on providing the basic Islamic education and basic Islamic Tarbiyah to our children. Since the school meets only once a week, it is not possible to focus on a lot of areas, additionally, the children are only available for less than 4 hours. The Sunday school’s curriculum is structured to enrich the value of our deen while providing a stable Islamic environment for learning. We teach the basic fundamentals of Islam with special emphasis on Aqidah, Quran and Arabic. Each week our students study Dua Memorization, Islamic Studies, Quran Memorization and Arabic (according to their learning level).
