Dear Prospective Bride and Groom: Salamun Alaikum, Waba'd:
Welcome.
On behalf of the Muslim Community of Madison and Masjid UsSunnah, it will be our utmost pleasure to help and support your marriage proceedings, Nikah, to the best of our ability. We strive to execute all Nikah procedures as smoothly and joyfully as possible while ensuring they are in full adherence to Islamic Law and Traditions, as well as the Law of the Land. Accordingly, there are certain requirements in all marriage proceedings that the Masjid is entrusted to officiate. Examples of these requirements include, but not limited to:
The purpose of marriage shall be based on compassion and intention of lifelong commitment. The marriage shall not be temporary, nor shall there already be an intent by either party to separate or divorce later.
The marriage shall not be driven by a need for paperwork to satisfy citizenship application, visa requirements, residency, or any other purpose than true compassion and intention of a lifelong commitment.
The Masjid requires that an official, State-issued Marriage License must be ready for signature at the time of the marriage, Nikah, proceedings.
